As a child, I grew up watching my father run his medical practice, Siles Health.
I was always in the back end helping, from the smaller things when i was younger, making branded CDs from the home computer so patients could take home photos and videos of their baby (yes he had a company to do it but i did extras for fun) to the bigger things like admin whilst i was studying undergrad to get into medicine.
I always saw my dad's passion for helping patients and how much he loved his vocation as a doctor and how he would always light up at new ways to improve patient outcomes and care, I couldn't help but to follow in his foot steps.
I'd seen how his medical practice ran, how the continuity of care from his genetic counsellors made it a seamless experience for people at their most difficult times. I thought this was a normal experience, until I started to hear from friends and others of how confusing and unheard they felt in the medical system.
So in 2019, I conjured up an idea and just before the pandemic my dad and i decided to start looking for spaces.
Our dream was obviously put on hold until 2023 when we came across this space on high street and knew we wanted to pick up this idea again.
Our vision was to set up a space where prevention, early detection and therefore minimal treatment was at the forefront. To build an ecosystem that eases the burden on patients. A health concierge, a membership and medicine all in a spa environment.
As soon as we were about to open, I had incidentally found out I had an ovarian tumour that was growing for years, ironic i know. I only found this out because I had walked head first into an open boot of a van and sliced my head open and i asked the anesthetist to check my bloods for my fertility and then went to get an ultrasound at Siles Health and we found a 12cm tumour. Which truly solidifies what I had envisioned all these years ago, there needs to be a place where healthcare feels less clinical and more cared for or other people, like me, would keep putting off their healthchecks.
My symptoms crossed with so many other "more likely" things it could have been, a simple ultrasound and i would've found it years ago.
If somewhere like Club Siles, had have existed, I may have spent a day with a girlfriend and booked a medical wellness package for the both of us, had a massage then a health consult and a nice walk down high street.
Dad and I are so passionate about prevention, early detection and treatment. This is just the first of our many ways we're dedicated to this mission. We're excited to bring you along on this journey.
